National Societies capacity development processes aim to contribute individual, community, and institutional resilience; invest strategic and operational coordination in the humanitarian activities, generate the dissemination of knowledge among the consortium, operationalize relief assistance for international emergencies, invigorate them in the international field using collective learning and influence humanitarian agendas.

National Society Capacity Exchange and Enhancement Platform Project is a country consortium that aims to improve the local and national capacity in response to the humanitarian crisis. The Project’s Kick-Off Meeting was held on 31.03.2021 with the attendance of the President of Türk Kızılay and Vice President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent, Dr. Kerem Kınık. The Turkish Red Crescent, Coordinator of the National Society Capacity Exchange and Enhancement Platform Project, hosted the event. The Kick-Off Meeting focussed on providing a detailed overview of the project and the project activities for the next three years.

The opening speeches were delivered by the IFRC Vice President and the Steering Committee Members of the Project as follows:

- Dr. Nadezhda Todorovska

- David Peppiatt

- Alper Küçük

Following the opening remarks, the National Society Capacity Exchange and Enhancement Platform Project Management Group; Merve Yasayan, Alexander Pendry, Siana Metodieva, Zaklina Ninkovic made a presentation of the project to the participants of the meeting. 

The Project Management Group also highlighted the implementation part of the project that constitutes its uniqueness by providing the selected Working Groups with the opportunity to discuss and enhance the best practices of the partner National Societies.

The Kick-Off Meeting was ended after the Q&A session.

All in all, the Kick-Off Meeting was deemed to have been a great success and highly beneficial for strengthening the ties between the project partners and sustaining the effective implementation of the upcoming project activities.
